The touching moment when Rush gets Medal of Freedom surprise at State of the Union



During Tuesday's State of the Union address, President Donald Trump awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, America's highest civilian award, to iconic radio personality Rush Limbaugh. First Lady Melanie Trump placed the medal around his neck in the House gallery, on the President's direction. Limbaugh was visibly shocked.

Limbaugh announced on Monday that he has been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.

Here's the moment when Rush, who is totally deaf but has some sense of sound restored via cochlear implants, realizes what was going on:

As a "Rush baby" who grew up listening to his radio program, I just about teared up watching. I wasn't the only one.
