Baumgarten Enters State Senate District 17 Race
Shawnee, OK – Earlier [this week], Brandon Baumgarten a conservative Republican of Shawnee, has
officially declared his candidacy for State Senate District 17. Brandon is a youth pastor, author, speaker, and businessman. He is married to April Hiett-Baumgarten, a public-school teacher at Dale Elementary School, and together they have one beautiful daughter, Bella.
“I’ve never run for office before, but there is one thing certain I know – we must stand up and FIGHT for our future. The day my wife and I had Bella, our little girl, I was holding her in my arms and I felt a gentle nudge from the Lord saying, FIGHT for her future. That’s what I’m doing. I’m going to fight for the people of District 17, for less government regulations, for life, liberty, and freedom. I’m going to fight for the future generations. Today, we see career politicians that are not acting in the best interest of the voters or future generations – and I’m running to change that,” Baumgarten states.
Brandon Baumgarten is a small business owner, professional speaker, interview coach, youth pastor, and book author, presenting to over 150 audiences a year nationwide. He served the Oklahoma FFA Association as State Secretary, State President, and as a National Officer Candidate from 2011-2013 and graduated as Outstanding Senior in Agricultural Leadership from Oklahoma State University. He is a Zig Ziglar Legacy Certified Presenter and recently served the state as the founder of the Oklahoma Hour of Prayer. He is a two-time Barnes & Noble author of the recent book The Habitat for Holiness and Caught Up & Called Out. He was also awarded the Oklahoma NEXTGEN Top 30 Under 30 Award.
In 2011, Baumgarten was the State Champion in the American Legion Oratorical Competition where he advocated for constitutional rights, freedom, and liberty and he went on to represent Oklahoma at the national competition against all other states’ representatives and Puerto Rico.
Baumgarten states he wants to help remove unnecessary government regulations that are strangling businesses and continue making Oklahoma a Top 10 state. He believes in a limited government and is 100% Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, and Pro-Trump. Brandon is a faithful follower of Christ and he and his wife are actively involved in their church community where Brandon serves as the Youth & Music Minister at Hazel Dell Baptist Church in McLoud.
Brandon says, “As a small business owner with lots of experience in communication and leadership and as a former State FFA President, an organization representing more than 25,000 people statewide, I’ve had the honor of learning a ton about leadership. Good leaders have a heart that cares for the people they serve. Similarly, candidates running for office just to be running seem to end up causing chaos in our government. Good Leaders are selfless, and my hope is to serve the people of Senate District 17 with that heart of service, selfless spirit.”
